Supporting Black-owned Businesses

Are you looking for more black-owned businesses to support? Do you not know where to start? Stay tuned for some of my favorite black-owned businesses that you should definitely consider buying from! As spring is just around the corner, I thought I’d start this series off by sharing two shops to help you welcome in spring.

The first store is located right here in the DMV, Femme Fatale. CEO Cee Smith created this “hub for womxn and non-binary creatives, entrepreneurs and organizers...that advances intersectionality on a platform for equality.” Femme Fatale is the perfect brand to support if you consider yourself a feminist; the products highlight some of the most influential women in our lifetime, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Michelle Obama. The company has the perfect items for a self-care day during your Spring Break to relax and unwind. The positive affirmation cards, “self-care” candle, and the glowing body butter are three things I'll definitely be adding to my cart! The blog posts are also really great to read while you enjoy your self-care day. I hope you go check it out! https://www.femmefataledc.com/

The next brand I'm highlighting is perfect for those of you who love to work out (or just wear workout clothes and hang around the house like me lol). Roam Loud has the cutest workout sets, which are perfect to wear on days you don't have time to put together an outfit. Roam Loud’s founder Toyin Omisore wanted to accentuate black women headlining the label as she selects monochrome fabrics that especially compliment darker skin tones. The sets come in many different colors and styles and are totally affordable and are a great alternative to lululemon! Roam Loud’s website categorizes its sets based on workout intensity, so you can easily shop by your preference. These sets are definitely a must-have as we are still transitioning back and forth from cold to warm weather. https://roamloud.com
